Taken from inside our car driving down the road…. well, Jason was driving… I was shooting. 🙂
(darn you black sedan invading my shot )
So, I’m backtracking a bit with some photos from the past couple of months that I meant to blog, but never got to. A while ago, Jason and I broke away from our everyday chaos to spend an extended weekend in Deadwood, SD. I went with all these great intentions of spending most of my time shooting the cool vintage downtown, textures, signs, cool happenings, but…. as seems to be the one constant in my life, the weather was not cooperative. It rained and was gloomy and cold there the entire time. I literally came away with only a handful of images. Guess that’s my excuse to go back. Plus, the gambling was not what you’d call favorable for us and I was sick with an inner ear issue the whole time. BLARGH! Suppose you could say the trip was a bust for the most part. However, we had the premier suite in our gloriously smoke-filled hotel. Thank God for jacuzzi tubs, heated marble floors and private decks. Maybe it’s kind of sad to have your hotel room be the highlight of a trip. Oh yeah, not having bustling, vociferous children buzzing around us 24-7 was a delightful perk too!! Here are a couple of shots of our gloomy getaway.
Building right across the street from our hotel deck.
Our little private deck… or at least it became accessible to only us in the evening… good enough.
I would give my eye teeth to live in a town with all this interesting architecture and vintage landscapes to photograph. I’ll definitely be going back with my kids to do a cool session with them. I’ve already got Aiden’s senior portraits mapped out. Only 13 years to go!
