The incredible thing about photography and editing is that we all see things differently. We shoot differently and envision the final edits differently. I love that. Just because I tend to lean in the realm of darker, richer, more vibrant editing, doesn’t mean that switching things up and changing my processes a little in post processing is out of reach. The editing that I do doesn’t require purchased actions. I do occasionally use a few actions in conjunction with my own personal hand editing and it’s fun to mix things up a bit as I did here. The first image is straight out of camera, no editing at all.
The 2nd image was done with my signature editing that I demonstrate in my photo editing mentoring sessions and required no actions at all. As you can see, a sky was added for drama… and photos like this with wide open blank skies are best for this process. The colors were taken in a more dramatic, rich direction and the overall feel is completely different than the original.
There’s great fun in experimenting and trying new things by opening ones self up to new possibilities. Knowing the ins and outs of Photoshop and what can be done by hand, opens up the door of editing possibilities!
