I am Cris, an Argentinian that worked in the Corporate world for more than 10 years and retired to finally live my passion: photography. I have been doing this full time for less than two years. I work in the cities of Houston & Katy, Texas and specialize in an artistic photography that tells a story just using natural light. I usually work with kids, but from couples to families, they all have been part of this adventure. I am a proud, self-taught photographer who continues learning and discovering the beauty in imperfections, blur, and different perspectives. Being true to myself is what keeps me going. Art is what moves my soul, and light, when caressing subjects in different and interesting ways, is what gives me goose bumps. Deb Shwedhelm has been my main inspiration for years while I was dreaming of what I was not able to do. She filled my heart while it was aching and inspired me to do what I do. Detra made me fall in love with natural light in a way I can not put into words. Then, the editing came. I learned Photoshop by myself, spending hours reading blogs and websites by people who knew what they were talking about. It is amazing how much other photographers are willing to share. I learned what I know just following so many talented people and taking thousands of photographs. Trying and practicing were my main teachers. Michelle Kane tutorials have been very helpful, and from all the action sets that I purchased during the last three years of practice, Michelle’s are my favorite ones. My workflow is usually : Camera Raw, Photoshop: adjusting light with curves and creating lots of layer masks to give depth to my images, and MK actions. I use the HeARTy Actions, the Botanical Blends, and the Caramel B+W Collections. The ones that I use on a regular basis are:
HeART & Soul: Contrast & Shadows set, Hazes Set (the matte actions), Glisten, and the Sharpening set (Dramatic Details)
Creative HeART: Imperial
Botanical Blends: Angelica, Buttery Blur, Contrast & Shadows section
Caramel: Darken Caramel and the matte finishes
I love playing with tones according to each picture that is individually processed. I love that these actions are very easy to use and the variety of tools give you the possibility to find your own editing style. I see art in what I do and the editing process is very important to me. It is like the artist that begins giving color to her canvas; emphasizing what should be emphasize and hiding what should be in second place. Editing is a tool that helps me to bring the drama to another level, find that whimsical touch, and see the artistic side of each moment captured.”—Cris
