I have yet to post anything here on the blog about the upcoming Half Light Collection. I have this bad habit of always posting and sharing on facebook, but am not so good at keeping up here on the blog. To find my latest images and endeavors, please join me at facebook. So, if you haven’t been following the latest on facebook, there’s something you should know….
There’s a new action collection about to be released in May. I do not have a firm release date yet, but it will be May sometime. The Half Light Collection has been in the works for months now and I’m super excited to finally get it in the hands of other photographers.
So what is Half Light all about?
The Half Light Collection is multi-faceted. As with all of my action collections, you can achieve a plethora of different looks with this new collection. While it does heavily cater towards creating a “film-like” look with your photos, it’s definitely not limited to that. If you like rich color, you can get that. If you like clean simple editing, you can do that too. If your thing is making your backlit images soar, it’s got you covered. If you like matte filmesque™ type images or veering towards the raw and funky world of colorful light leaks, this will definitely be for you. As always, you can combine the actions to create just the look you need… not too much matte, not too much pop. Plus, there’s a fantastic set of white balance fixers that are invaluable and perfect for adjusting white balance for any photos. Limitless combinations of actions can be played to create an endless number of looks. Really, you are only limited by your imagination. The Half Light Collection works seamlessly with all other MK actions and can always be stacked one after the other for you to concoct your perfect recipe.
The collection is broken into “sets” to keep things organized and clear. There will be a helpful informational PDF that comes with the collection, much like the ones that came with the HeARTy actions for you to refer to for details on the actions—how they work and what kinds of photos they work best on.
Before they can be released, they need to go through a second phase of testing. That’s where you come in. I’m looking for 5 highly qualified individuals to test these actions. Before you jump straight to the application, please consider a few things to make sure we are a good fit.
1. If you like the looks of the photos you see below, they were achieved with the Half Light Collection. These are the kinds of looks you can create with this collection. Some of these were taken straight from my facebook feed, but for more Half Light photos, please refer to my facebook page timeline photos.
2. If you aren’t detail oriented or a great proofreader, please don’t apply. Type-A personalities are highly encouraged to apply!! =)
3. You must be fluent with Photoshop CS3 or higher. You need to understand how to use, apply, and adjust actions. You need to know how to use layer masks. If this isn’t you, please don’t apply.
4. It helps if you’re open minded and creative with your editing. If you only like your images to look one certain way and you already have a great workflow for achieving that, no need to apply.
Refer to the application for more details on the requirements.
TESTING CALL IS NOW CLOSED.
