The Maternal Lens

Yay! I’m super excited to be featured on The Maternal Lens blog. Not only is it quite an honor to be recognized for my work by this awesome blog, but to be in the same company as some of the other amazing photographers they’ve featured is truly an incredible privilege. Thank you to Shannon for selecting me for this sweet shout-out!!  Please hop over and read the interview here and check out their very cool blog.

Just wrapping things up (literally and figuratively) for Christmas. Just two days away and I’m SO ready for it to be here. This is the first year Juliet seems to remotely understand what’s going on. And Aiden… well, he’s been on pins and needles for weeks, trying to talk us into opening *just one* present every. single. day. The kid is relentless. As I look around my messy, cluttered house that is always in a state of chaos with Juliet’s incessant destruction, I feel heavy just thinking about adding more toys and books, dollies and games to this jumbled abode we call home. My mind doesn’t function well in clutter, which explains why I’ve been rather crazy since the kids came on the scene six years ago. Jason and I have already decided a nice 4-5 days of purging and reevaluating will be necessary this spring. Now, if I can just pawn my darling buds off onto my parents for a week, we will be in business…. nudge-nudge, wink-wink… mom & dad!

So I leave you with one of the images from a new fine art series that I’ve been working on. Amidst all the hubbub of the holiday season, the noise, the commotion, toys strewn about, busy moments and stress of getting it all done, I wish you quiet moments of true solace and peace.

GORRRGEOUS!! Love this!!

congrats!!!

Great interview, Michelle! I giggled about your daughters obsession with rubbing things in her hair and all over her body — my daughter did this a lot when she was too also, she once applied an entire tube of my husbands “hair cement” to herself while I was nursing her baby brother. I like it believe it’s the creative side of her brain that causes her to do such things!

Amazing! Congrats and all the best for 2010!!

Sam

hey! I thought I congratulated you but I guess my comment didnt go through!! CONGRATS!! Of course you deserve, your AWESOME!!!

I finally FINALLY got a chance to check out the interview. I’m super devastated. You are turned off by messy houses and offices and I have to un-welcome to you mine now. :) LOL! (kidding, I never REALLY type that but I just had to). Congrats girl. Great interview. GREAT images selected to shine. Great. great. great.

congrats on the feature and the interview. your work is definitely inspiring and it was really cool to read the interview and learn a couple of things about you :)
Have a blessed season and lots of quiet moments that will allow you to recharge for the new adventures in the new year :)

It’s a little late, but if you happen to know of a family who won’t have much for Christmas you could really surprise them big with some of your gently used old toy items. We purged the old that way this year and have empty shelves now with room for the new. It probably meant more to me to have the clean shelves than it did to the receiving family, but ya never know. I had the kids help pick toys they wanted to give away and they went to the family’s home with us.

I've been incredibly blessed to work with so many remarkable people; capturing moments in their lives and creating memories for a lifetime. Curious what a session with me is like? Read what past clients had to say about their experience.
